15th December

With these freezing nights, I’m glad that we included some big cockle-warming beers!

Larkin’s Brewing Morrigan

  • ABV: 11%
  • Style: Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout
  • Brewery: Larkin’s Brewing Co
  • Origin: Kilcoole, Wicklow

Morrigan has been aged for 9 months in Bourbon Barrels. This allows both the beer and the barrel to absorb from and impart flavours to each other.

Tasting Notes:

  • Appearance: Dark black opaque, with a fluffy yet short-lived tan head.
  • Aroma: Bourbon, oak, dark chocolate, brown sugar, with coffee.
  • Flavour: Bourbon, molasses, Oak, vanilla, with a dark bitter chocolate lingering finish.
  • Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, with low carbonation.
